Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova visits Lithuanian Delegation

  Newly appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Mr. Vladimir Filat and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Mr. Iure Leanca visited Lithuanian Delegation to NATO on 30 of September and had a meeting with Ambassadors of Allies. During an open discussion Moldovan high-ranking guests informed about foreign and security policy priorities of the new government and expressed intention to better cooperate with NATO in the field of security sector reform, the area of public diplomacy and intensify consultations and participation in the PfP programme. Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs have also stressed importance of cooperation with the European Union. “Moldova will no longer be just an observer. We want to take an active part in all European processes” – Vladimir Filat has underscored. Allies expressed their support for the reform programme of the Moldovan Government and offered expert assistance. They also stressed importance of balanced approach in neighbourly relations and in addressing Transnistria problem. Ambassador Linas Linkevičius expressed a willingness to share Lithuania’s national experience in defence reform and public diplomacy and advised to fully benefit from the potential of the Lithuanian Embassy in Chisinau, who is acting as a NATO Contact Point Embassy, in building practical relations with NATO.
