Photo exhibition "Viyna" on the conflict in Ukraine opens up in Brussels

On July 13th Lithuanian permanent representations to NATO and the EU have opened a photography exhibition by warzone reporter Artūras Morozovas. Ambasador Jovita Neliupšienė, the permanent representative to the EU, told the guests that the Ukrainian people chose European values in the Maidan and they are still fighting for them, because freedom and democracy are not given for granted.

Ukrainian ambassador to Belgium and to the EU Mykola Toczycky reminded about the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He thanked Lithuania for continuous support and that with the help of Lithuanian political pressure the unrecognition of Crimea's annexation does not disappear from the European agenda.

Author of the photographs is a young Lithuanian press photographer and warzone journalist Artūras Morozovas. In his pictures he has recorded events of two last years in Ukraine, ranging from massive protests in Kiev's Maidan square of Independence to the war in the Donbas region.

In the opening of the exhibition he shared his experiences in the warzone, in the trenches and the impressions he got while talking to soldiers on the both conflicting sides. "The fact that this exhibition is taking place in Brussels is very important and symbolic. Ukraine's fight for freedom and European values reminds us that we cannot be indifferent. The war in Ukraine is closer to us than we think", noted A. Morozovas.
