Lithuania's Minister for Defence: NATO should dedicate more attention to relatively peaceful provinces

On June 12-13 National Defence Minister Juozas Olekas took part in a formal NATO Defence Ministers’ meeting in Brussels.  

Mr. Juozas Olekas  thanked allies and partner nations for the support they are provding for the Province of Ghowr in Afghanistan.  

“Recent unrest in Ghowr is a proof that relatively peaceful provinces require more attention from the Alliance,” the Minister said.

During a session of the NATO-Ukraine Commission, Lithuania's Minister expressed firm support for Ukraine’s integration into NATO and welcomed its first successful steps.

“Ukraine is the first and the only NATO’s partner contributing to all operations of the Alliance,” underlined J. Olekas.
