Lithuanian soldiers support media in Ghowr, Afghanistan
Members of the Lithuanian-led PRT-5 handed over photocameras and dictaphones for representatives of provincial media on August 29. “I sincerely appreciate the support and courses for our journalist the soldiers provided us with. Assistance of PRT is very important for us. I hope our professional cooperation will continue,” director of Ghowr radio and television station Mohammad Jan Kindiwally said during the meeting. This quick impact project was completed in order to boost quality of local journalists’ work and to incapacitate them to raise quality of their performance. Chaghcharan journalists received five dictaphones and four photocameras. It is not the first time Lithuanian troops assist local media - radio and TV station was given a new computer quite recently; military experts serving in the PRT have provided consultations for Chaghacharan reporters on computer literacy, taught them to write articles and make interviews. Five reporters work in Chaghcharan, the capital of Ghowr, recently, there are two radio stations - private one and public one broadcasted through megaphones. There is also wall newspaper and a few private newspapers, i.e. photocopied hand-written sheets of paper which are usually distributed to readers in the market place. The so-called newspapers uncoloured, low in quality, without any pictures. Picture: Public Relations Officer for the PRT-5 1st Lt.
