Lithuanian Permanent Representative to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation presented credentials to NATO Secretary General

New Lithuanian ambassador to NATO Mr. Kęstutis Jankauskas presented  credentials to NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on the 30th of August 2011.

In the conversation that followed the Secretary General and Ambassador discussed   pressing issues on the NATO agenda including the operations in Afganistan and Libya, NATO air policing mission in the Baltic States, NATO relations with partner countries and other international organisations, preperations for the approaching NATO Summit.

Special attention was given to the issue of new threats and Lithuania’s aspiration to achieve NATO Centre of excellence status to the newly established Energy Security Centre in Vilnius.

The Secretary General expressed gratitude to Lithuania for its active participation in NATO operation in Afganistan and for putting high on the international security policy agenda the issue of new threats.

Ambassador Kęstutis Jankauskas invited NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen to visit Lithuania in the nearest future.
