Lithuanian flag lowered to honour the loss of a soldier in Afghanistan
Sgt. Arunas Jarmalavicius has been killed in an attack on the PRT camp in Chaghcharan. Two more Lithuanian soldiers suffered minor injuries after being hit by rocks thrown by the Afghan protesters. In response PRT soldiers fired warning shorts into the air. According to the MoD, two civilians had been killed, leaving five protesters and ten policemen injured. Local police, security forces and additional NATO unit from ISAF Regional Command West in Herat were called in to assist the PRT contingent in repelling the attack. Local police and the PRT officers have launched an investigation into the deaths of the civilians. Lithuania has lowered its flag in front of NATO Headquaters to honour the fallen soldier.
