Denmark and Lithuania promote Green Energy and Defence Initiative at NATO Ministerial

Denmark and Lithuania promoted Green Agenda at the Defence Ministerial in NATO on 4-5 of June 2013. The initiative was supported by Allies and will now be taken forward by NATO.

For a gallon of fuel used in Afghanistan by ISAF it takes about seven gallons of fuel to deliver it!

The initiative aims to provide concrete ideas to be discussed in NATO with the aim of saving money, reduce dependencies on fossil fuels and thereby enhancing the security of the Alliance, including when deployed in operations.

Climate change and environmental sustainability are very high on the international agenda. Likewise, the NATO summit in Chicago did address the issue of energy security, and it was decided to report progress in this regard at the next summit.

Denmark and Lithuania stand ready to discuss the Green initiative at NATO, including additional ideas from allies.
