Codes of Vilnius and Lithuania in the logo of NATO meeting
Many codes important to Lithuania are incorporated into the logo of the NATO Defence Ministers’ meeting that will take place in February. The sign contains motifs of Gediminas Castle and tricolour nation symbols, its graphical representation and combination of colours hints at Lithuanian cultural traditions - ancient weaving patterns - as well as symbolises the idea of dialog and interaction. Logotype consists of 26 elements meaning 26 NATO members. Intense green colour of Vilnius meeting logo background is unusual for NATO meetings and builds image of Lithuania as modern and spirited country. “I meant to represent Lithuania and Vilnius in an up-to-date yet subtle way by combination of eternal values (Gediminas Castle and ethnic Lithuanian weaving patterns) and minimalistic and modern aesthetics, “ said designer of the logotype Aidas Urbelis. Aidas Urbelis also created logotype for the NATO Defence Ministers’ meeting in Vilnius in 2005. NATO Defence Ministers’ meeting will take place in Vilnius on February 7-8. It should be the largest NATO event that has ever been held in Lithuania. Over 50 delegations are expected to participate in the event, about a thousand of participants and foreign media representatives should be present. Vilnius meeting should be attended by representatives of almost one fourth of the world countries: apart from delegations from NATO members, partners of the Alliance contributing to operations in Kosovo and Afghanistan will be represented as well as Russia, Georgia, Afghanistan and the Ukraine. High-ranking officers of the UN, EU, World Bank, and other influential international institutions and organisations will also be present at the meeting. |
