Baltic Way in Brussels

On 22 September, Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian communities in Belgium will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Baltic Way in Brussels.

30 years ago, on the 23rd of August 1989 – on the 50th anniversary of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, which led to the occupation of the Baltic states in 1940 – approximately two million people in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania joined their hands, forming a unique human chain across the three Baltic States, to demonstrate unity in the peaceful call for freedom.

To commemorate this historic event, Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian communities in Belgium will form a symbolic 600 meter long human chain connecting the embassies of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in Brussels.

Join us in the spirit of freedom and unity for Europe on the Day of the Baltic Unity (also Car-Free Sunday), 22 September, 14:00.
