Annual NATO RUN dedicated to UN HeForShe campaign that promotes diversity and inclusion, women's empowerment and gender equality
Team of the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Lithuania to NATO took part in NATO "She Runs He Runs We Run" event on Saturday (29 September 2018).
"She Runs He Runs We Run" event, patronaged by NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller, was organized to promote diversity and inclusion, women’s empowerment and gender equality through sports, in the spirit of the United Nations HeForShe campaign. Its goal is to achieve equality by encouraging both genders to partake as agents of change and take action against negative stereotypes and behaviors, faced by people with feminine personalities/genders.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg greeted participants, spectators and supporters and inaugurated the event. He stressed NATO‘s committment to diversity and inclusion – values that make the Alliance stronger and safer.
In order to highlight the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) on Women, Peace and Security, participants ran a distance of 13.25 km around NATO HQ.
