Presidents of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland will meet in Lithuania to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the Baltic States’ accession into NATO on March 27.
Heads of state – President of the Republic of Lithuania H.E. Valdas Adamkus, President of the Republic of Latvia H.E. Valdis Zalters, President of the Republic of Estonia H.E. Toomas Hendrik Ilves, and President of the Republic of Poland H.E. Lech Kaczynski – will gather in Menaiciu village, the location where the Declaration of Independence was signed on 16 February 1949 by the Council of Liberation Movement of Lithuania. The Presidents will lay flowers at the monument for signatories of the Declaration of Independence of Lithuania, meet with freedom fighters of Lithuania and see exposition of historical photographs and documents.
Later in the day the Presidents will proceed to the Lithuanian Air Force Aviation Base (Siauliai) to take part in a representation of the NATO Baltic Air-policing mission and watch demonstration flights of the Danish F-16 fighter-jets currently on guard of the Baltic airspace. |
